The Trick to Audrey Hepburn’s Eyelashes

There’s no denying that Audrey Hepburn was a fashion icon. She portrayed herself as elegant and classy and was known for her beautiful, bold eyes with eyelashes that reached toward the sky. If you’ve always admired her luscious lashes and wanted to mimic them, here’s your chance! She used one amazing trick to really get naturally fanned-out lashes that were clump-free and beautiful.

Her makeup artist Alberto de Rossi would first apply her mascara and then use a pin to separate every single lash until they were completely clump-free and fanned out, helping her doe-eyes sparkle. Yes, it might take a while to do since a person can have anywhere from 70 to 150 lashes, it’s a trick worth trying for amazing lashes. You just need to be patient and be careful since one wrong move can have you poking your eye out! Once you get good at it, you’ll be able to do this trick in no time, but until you master it, don’t try to do it when you’re running late for work or will rush through it.

To get the look, use a small sewing needle or safety pin and curl your lashes as you normally would. Use an eyelash curler to really get some volume and then apply at least two coats of your favorite mascara. Once that’s done, it’s time to separate your lashes with the pin. You’ll want to start at the base of your eyelid, which is near the waterline and pull the pin all the way through to the top of the lash so that they separate from the other lashes. This will naturally define each of your lashes and will evenly distribute the mascara so that it provides a uniform look of pigment. Remember to go slow and to really watch what you’re doing so that you don’t damage your eye. This might take you anywhere from five to 10 minutes, depending on how many lashes you have on one eye. Once you finish the first eye, do the same to the other one. You can even do the same thing to your lower lashes if you want.
When you’re done, you’ll notice how much more dramatic and bold your eyes will look with beautiful lashes like Audrey Hepburn’s!
